Switzerland has a long and proud history for hotel management and is world renowned for its hospitality education. Most of the successful hotel managers around the world have been trained in this beautiful and safe country.

This history of excellence began more than 100 years ago when the first hotels were built in Switzerland. The “Caux-Palace”, nestled in the mountains overlooking both Montreux and Lake Geneva, was the largest, most impressive and exclusive establishment of the day. It was here - at the “ Caux-Palace” - where Switzerland’s reputation for hospitality was born.

The “Caux-Palace” is today home of SHMS, Swiss Hotel Management School. Students from more than 60 countries travel every year to Caux/Montreux, to experience the unique combination of receiving a leading edge hospitality education, delivered at the birthplace of Switzerland’s reputation for hospitality; the inspiring and impressive “Caux-Palace”. SHMS’s name is established around the globe as a World Leader in Hotel Management.

Together, the SHMS “Caux-Palace”, the City Campus and the University Centre in Leysin form Switzerland’s largest English speaking hotel management institution. A qualification from SHMS opens doors to leading positions in any sector of the hospitality industry, anywhere in the world.Our Academic programmes, at Diploma, Bachelor and Masters Degree level, are of the highest standard. Well qualified, internationally trained and highly motivated lecturers use the latest teaching materials and facilities. The combination of studying 5 months at SHMS and then completing a 4 - 6 month internship in a hotel or restaurant in Switzerland or overseas, ensures that theoretical and practical skills are developed and that our graduates have the industry experience and academic credentials essential for success.
